Bereavement

Bereavement Food Groups were formed to minister to the bereaved of St. Anthony by providing food for the immediate family to take home on the day of the funeral of a loved one. The group consists of volunteers who prepare food to bring to the church office on the day of the funeral.

There are no requirements, dues, or meetings to participate in this
ministry, just a kind heart and a desire to help.

 

 

 


Evangelization

Our purpose in this ministry is to evangelize Catholics including those who have left the faith or desire to embrace Catholicism but do not know how.

Meeting times are varied and all that is required is a desire and fervor to bring the church of Jesus Christ to others. There are no dues.

 

 

 

 

Finance Council

The purpose of the Finance Council is to support the Pastor and Pastoral Council. The Finance Council works in conjunction with Parish Council and Pastor to prepare the yearly budget and end of year financial statement. In addition the council serves the parish in an advisory capacity in regards to major financial decisions. The Finance Council is composed of three individuals who are appointed by the pastor and serve for a period of three years.

There are quarterly meetings and a background in finance, accounting or business administration is preferred. There are no dues.

 

 

 


Altar Servers

 Altar Servers assist the priest in the context of Mass, weddings, baptisms, and numerous other Church functions throughout the year. 

There is training when first starting as an altar server and thereafter training is scheduled as needed by the Pastor for special events. To be an altar server the individual must have received the Sacrament of First Communion. There are no dues or fees.

 

 

 

Commentators / Lectors

Commentators read announcements and introduce Father at the start of Mass. Lectors proclaim the Word of the Lord to the congregation during the Liturgy.

Meetings are held twice a year and are announced in the church bulletin. Participants must complete formational training for commentators / lectors. There are no dues or fees

 

 

 

 

 
Extraordinary Ministers

Extraordinary Ministers assist the pastor in the distribution of the Holy Eucharist. To be an Extraordinary Minister one must be a practicing Catholic of at least 18 years of age and have completed initial formation training.   

Continuing education is required annually. Extraordinary Ministers who are married must be in good standing with the Church. There are no fees or dues.

The purpose of Music Ministry at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic church is to serve our God, feed His people, and proclaim the liturgy through music, with our voices, with our hands, with our hearts, humbly, prayerfully, and joyfully with the guidance of the Holy Spirit. 

Practice varies according to each group.  For more information get in touch with the contact person listed for the group in which you are interested.

For the Singing Knights you must be a member of the Knights of Columbus 9338. For all others all that is needed is a desire to praise and worship God through music. There are no dues or fees.

 

 

 

 

 

Ushers

The purpose of the Usher Ministry is to make your visit to St. Anthony a blessing by showing the love of Jesus as we direct and keep order in the house of our Lord.  The ushers serve in many capacities prior to, during and after the mass.  They greet fellow parishioners and guests, coordinate mass collections, prepare the gifts, assist with seating and distribute bulletins. 

Meetings are 30 minutes prior to mass. There are no dues. Safe Environment for the Protection of Children is a plus but not required.

The purpose of the Pastoral Council is to assume personal responsibility for the spiritual and temporal welfare of the community. We offer a forum to anyone who wishes to contribute ideas and suggestions. We are the official center of communication on all things pertaining to the Parish and encourage collaboration of clergy and laity in their common mission.

 Meetings are held on the 3rd Monday of each month at 6:00 PM in the Parish Center and there are no dues.

 Requirements are as follows:

1. A parishioner 18 years or older who has been confirmed. Membership is limited to one person per household per term.

2. Membership is limited to nine (9) active practicing parishioners and one (1) member appointed by Pastor. All members must be parishioners of St. Anthony of Padua Parish either by boundaries or registration in the Parish.

3. The nine (9) elected members of the Pastoral Council will be elected at large by the parishioners of St. Anthony of Padua.

4. Ex-Offico Members are to be the Pastor and Deacons.

 

 

 

 

Adoration

 Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is to “be still and know that I am God”. Taking an hour of time to spend with Christ is one way to strengthen our relationship with Jesus and absorb His Loving Presence. Devotional material is available and families are welcome. ” Jesus asks “Can you watch an hour with me?”

You may dedicate an hour of your time daily, weekly, or monthly. Even 10 – 15 minutes when the Spirit calls is welcome. The Blessed Sacrament is put in repose on Holy Thursday until Easter Sunday each year.

During your time of Adoration, please dress modestly as when attending church, maintain quiet out of consideration of other adorers, and do not remove the luna from the monstrance.

 

 

 

 

Apostolate of Our Lady

This is and Intercessory Rosary Group. The rosary is prayed on the second Wednesday of each month at 2:00PM. The location varies each month.  We will have it published in the bulletin and on our website. The rosary is followed by fellowship.  There are no requirements or fees to be a part of this ministry.

 

 

 

 

St. Anthony Rosary Group

We have an informal gathering to pray the rosary.  Special intentions are offered for the sick, world peace, an end to abortion and any other request made by those in attendance.

 Meetings are on Thursdays from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM in the St. Anthony Adoration Chapel. There are no requirements or fees.

 

 

 

 

Tuesday Morning Prayer Group

This ministry has been meeting for more than 25 years.

Meetings are held every Tuesday morning at a member’s home. There are no requirements or dues.

 

 

 

 

 Altar Society

We primarily take care of the altar requirements.  Some responsibilities
include:

1.      Clean and press altar linens

2.      Polish candlesticks for special occasions

3.      Purchase the host

4.      Prepare the repository altar for Holy Thursday

5.      Decorate the altar when necessary

6.      Send parishioners Sympathy cards or Get-well cards  if in the hospital

7.      Help other church organizations as needed  

 Meetings are held on the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 10:00 A.M. in the St. Anthony Parish Center. There are no requirements. Annual Dues are:

Homebound

Our homebound ministry volunteers bring the Eucharist to parishioners who are unable to attend mass.  In bringing the Eucharist to our homebound parishioners, we are also telling them that they are still part of our parish community and that the rest of the community is one with them and are praying for them. 

Our homebound ministry volunteers distribute the Eucharist to the homebound every Thursday. One must be an extraordinary minister of the Eucharistto participate in this ministry.

 

 

 

 

 Knights of Columbus

The Knights of Columbus is a Catholic Fraternal organization guided by four core principles:  Charity, Unity, Fraternity and Patriotism.  The mission is to spread God’s message of Faith and Love as we stand united with the Church.   The Knights of Columbus encourages and promotes religious vocations.  The Knights are an active volunteer organization that raises awareness for needy causes and generates much needed funds to support a variety of charitable activities including support of the local parish and renovation of churches.  The Knights of Columbus is the largest Catholic Service organization in the world.

 Meetings are on the 2nd Thursday of the month @ 7:00 PM in the Knights of Columbus meeting room located at the St. Anthony Parish Center.

Applicant must be a practical Catholic man in union with the Holy See who is not less than 18 years of age.  A practical Catholic is one who lives up to the Commandments of God and the precepts of the Church.

 Dues are $50.00 per year

 

 

 

 

 Nursing Home Ministry

 We visit Heritage Manor Nursing Home and The Suite of Sugarmill Home. We start by talking with the residents, passing out bananas, and just spending some quality time with them.  After we say the Rosary  we have a Communion Service.

We visit on the 3rd Saturday of each month starting 9:30 AM. Heritage Manor is visited first followed by The Suite of Sugarmill around 11:00AM

The only requirement is a kind and compassionate heart and a willingness to give of time and self to our revered elders. Anyone of any age is welcome. The elders especially love to interact with children.

 

 

 

 

 Adult Education

Adult Education is continuing education and spiritual growth for the adults in our parish community. Some classes are available for credits and can be applied to certification.  

Dates and times are generally listed in the bulletin as classes become available. Locations vary.

Classes have no requirements if taken for an elective or basic certification. A few may require a prerequisite course if taking for advanced certification. The cost is minimal; the price of the text book usually.

 

 

 

 

Bible Study

Our goal is to educate and enlighten those who attend with the truth of the Holy Scripture and the teachings of the church; also, to promote the gospel and to defend the faith. Catholic lay evangelist, Kerry Bueche, is the key speaker.

 Meetings are located in the St. Anthony Parish Center and occur on:

 There are no requirements or fees.

 

 

 

 

 Children’s Church

A Facilitator reads the children’s version of the Gospel to help them understand the message for that Sunday.  Some type of activity is also done to help them better understand.  

Children’s Church lasts approximately 15-20 minutes and the children go back to the celebration of the mass after offertory. It is on Sunday at the 10:30 A.M. Mass during Homily.  

Requirements are Safe Environment for the Protection of Children Training.  Applications may be obtained from Roxanne Bergeron in the Parish office. 

 

 

 


Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (
RCIA)

Our mission as a RCIA team member is to facilitate the process by which a potential convert to the Catholic faith is gradually introduced into the Church through evangelization and catechesis and in relationship with the members of our church community.

The RCIA team also provides catechesis for those who were baptized as infants but who have not yet received the sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist. Through the RCIA process individuals become fully initiated members of the Catholic Church. 

Meetings are on Sunday mornings from 9:15 AM to 10:15 AM in St. Anthony Parish Center (K.C. Room)

An RCIA team member must be in full communion with the Catholic Church and an active participant in the sacramental life of the Church.
