Good Friday is a day of Fast & Abstinence. The church law of abstinence applies to persons at age 14. The law of fast applies to persons from their 18th birthday through their 59th birthday. The spirit of the law is that each individual Catholic finds his/her own way to make the penitential season a time for personal growth, through prayer, works of charity and greater fidelity to one’s responsibilities, “in an authentic sense of penance”.
